Ray Gomez Jr. has been charting a successful course for RAYCO Construction since 1980. Now, RAYCO is a member of the construction team that will be building the largest publicly financed sports facility in the United States. As a diehard Cowboy fan and season ticket holder building a new stadium for America’s Team is a life dream.

For RAYCO the dream had both humble beginnings and like many small businesses, its share of struggle. Twenty years later, his determination to keep his eye on the prize along with perseverance earned Mr. Gomez the U.S. Small Business Administration’s Business Person of the Year in 2000. RAYCO was nominated for the award by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers for construction projects performed over the six state area: Texas, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Louisiana and Missouri. This same year, RAYCO was nominated for The Blue Chip Enterprise Award sponsored by the MassMutual Financial Group and the United States Chamber of Commerce for its national economic contributions as an American small business entrepreneur. RAYCO’s record of achievement has served as inspiration to many entrepreneurs and was highlighted by Hispanic Business magazine as one of the top 500 largest Hispanic-owned companies in the United States. RAYCO’s business trajectory is nationally known and solicited by government leaders such as California Lieutenant Governor Cruz M. Bustamante for its contributions to national economic development and infrastructure milestones of the 21st Century. RAYCO has also been nominated and recognized for its hard work and dedication by the Greater Dallas Hispanic Chamber of Commerce for its Quality Circle Award. The Arlington Chamber of Commerce in 2005 and the Arlington Hispanic Chamber of Commerce in 2006 named RAYCO the Small Business Person of the Year.

In 1998, RAYCO’s efforts in the area of HVAC/Asbestos safety practices earned it an Army Corps of Engineers Safety & Occupational Health award. Outstanding achievement and excellence are ingrained practices and typify the RAYCO vision from its early days. In 1993, the U.S. Small Business Administration presented RAYCO the Administrator’s Award for Excellence in federal procurement. RAYCO’s success in the award of federal contracts at the multi-state level was attributed to the company’s commitment to quality, excellence and outstanding compliance with project timelines and budgets.

RAYCO joined the ranks of the federal 8(a) program for minority government suppliers and just seven years after receiving its certification, it became an award-winning firm for its work as a general building construction contractor for numerous General Service Administration facilities in the Metroplex and North Texas, San Antonio and South Texas, El Paso and West Texas and the State of Arkansas.
